Hard lift: ‘Squad’ member shows off bench press, becomes latest politician to brag about gymnastics achievements

A member of the “Squad” of far-left Democrats has joined a slew of politicians who brag online about their gym workouts.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, DN.Y., tweeted a video of him apparently completing three full reps of a 405-pound bench press at the gym, pushing hard to get the last rep without help from his spotter.

“Make sure your health and wellness are always front and center as we fight to save democracy and humanity. 3 reps of 405 and I’m good to go!” he said.

He has previously posted videos of his gym lifts. He told GQ that he had taken more care of his health this year.

“I think I’m even prouder because I haven’t been the best at taking care of my body in recent years, so I kind of recommitted myself in 2023 to just be consistent in the gym. I’ve been consistent since the beginning January and to get to 405 in two months is pretty cool,” he said in April.

He told the outlet that he was starting to feel weak and had trouble running before going back to the gym this year.

“So I went back to the gym, and I really feel like a new person — I feel like I’m mentally sharper, more stable emotionally, I naturally feel better physically. Then I read some research where they said when you work out. ..i forget exactly how they worded it but stress raises cortisol levels so it literally lives in your blood, and when you lift weights and work out you literally exercise it out of your body so that’s kind of the mindset that i I have been responsive and consistent in my approach.”

The representatives of the swole democratic socialists are the latest example of politicians using social media to show off their gym winnings.

The video of Kennedy doing the incline bench press was tweeted out by Ryan Calder, a fitness coach, who clarified that the presidential candidate was pressing twice as much weight as he did in previous sets — indicating that the 69-year-old presidential candidate can hit more than 300 pounds.

Meanwhile, Conservative Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has spoken repeatedly over the years about her passion for CrossFit and posted videos of her intense workouts.

“Body, mind and soul… Be unstoppable,” she posted in February along with a video of her doing various exercises, including pullups and squats.
