The Rockefeller Heart Christmas tree arrived in New York Metropolis on Saturday, signaling the beginning of the vacation season within the Massive Apple.

The 74-foot Norway spruce from Massachusetts was pushed into Manhattan’s Heart Plaza to be hoisted in place by a crane. It should take 5 miles of sunshine strands with greater than 50,000 multicolored LED bulbs to wrap the tree, whose diameter measures 43 ft. A Swarovski star crown glowing with 3 million crystals will prime it.

The towering conifer, donated by the Albert household in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, was reduce down Thursday morning and loaded onto a flatbed truck for the 140-mile journey. 

It’s the first Rockefeller Heart Christmas tree to come back from the Bay State since 1959.

The lighting ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 4.

When it lastly comes down in January, the tree can be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
