It happened in Posadas, Misiones. In a desperate attempt to escape, the offender made a reckless decision: he jumped from the moving bus.
The theft of a cell phone in a bus that circulated through the city of Posadas, Misiones, ended in tragedy when the criminal jumped out of the window to escape while the transport was in motion. He therefore hit his head on the pavement and died hours later.
The episode occurred on Tuesday afternoon, when José Benitez (21) and another young man nicknamed “Moski” boarded the bus line 47 in the metropolitan area of the capital of Misiones. Once inside the vehicle, the duo of thieves took the opportunity to snatch the cell phone of a teenager who was also traveling in that unit.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the criminals made a reckless decision: they jumped out the window of the moving bus. However, the robbery and escape cost them dearly, as Benitez suffered a devastating blow to the head when he hit the hard pavement.
Despite medical efforts, the young man died this Wednesday afternoon at the Madariaga Hospital due to the serious injuries he suffered from the fall.
As for “Moski”, the other criminal, was caught by the police and is currently in custody while the corresponding investigations are carried out to clarify the facts and determine the responsibilities.
A similar precedent: the thief who was run over by two cars in Palermo in his escape
The crime was the same and in the same transport. In August 2021, a thief was run over after stealing a woman’s cell phone in a bus on line 68 and trying to run away. He was hit by two cars on Avenida Sante Fe at 3,400, near Salguero, in Palermo, City of Buenos Aires.
According to sources in the case, after attacking the victim, the assailant got off the bus and wanted to cross the avenue when the traffic light was green for vehicular traffic.
At that moment he was hit by a car. As a result of the impact, the thief crossed hands, where he was hit by another car.
The thief, who was left lying on the floor, was assisted by a SAME ambulance and transferred to the Fernández Hospital.
Police sources reported that he entered the health center with a diagnosis of “polytrauma with risk of life.”
