César Benito Andrada (49) and María Rosa Cisneros (46) had met three decades ago in the rural area of Loreto, in the center of the province. After two years they began to live together and settled shortly after in the capital of Santiago, where they had three daughters.
The love story turned into a story of violence. Andrada, who used to get drunk with her, began to beat her, harass her, denigrate her, treat her like a slave.
Until “Pety” was encouraged to denounce him and got the Justice to grant him an exclusion from home on March 13.

But the man, who worked as a bricklayer, violated the restriction and ended up committing a brutal act: Tuesday night, after 11:30 p.m., he broke into the house on 2400 Caseros street, in the Libertad neighborhood, and Cisneros did not even have time to activate the anti-panic button. He shot her twice with a revolver and then shot himself in the head.
The man was left lying two meters from his ex-wife’s body and was taken to the Regional Hospital, where he lay dying until the following afternoon.
“I didn’t have a cell phone. He said that if he did, he would cheat on him. He gave me money for food and nothing else. On weekends, he drank a lot and then insulted all of us, treating us the worst,” María Rosa had declared before the Office for the Protection of Victims of Family Violence and Women, on March 2.
According to the newspaper El Liberal, the victim detailed one of the attacks suffered: “Over the weekend, he drank alcohol. Later, he treated us the worst. He grabbed me by the hair, was jealous with the neighbors, even with a nephew, he said that I had sex. He threatened to kill me. As always, he told me he was going to kill me.”
The couple, on the man’s birthday, in February 2022. They then separated.
On March 13, the Gender Judge, Norma Morán, excluded him from the home and gave the victim an anti-panic button.
The mason reluctantly left with some clothes from the house, but days later he returned. “He yelled at us that the lawyer told him that she should not leave the house that he built,” the woman said.
Then he settled back on the property and made the days of his ex-wife and their three daughters hell again. Until Justice threw him out, despite his resistance and his insults.
According to El Liberal, “Pety” said that she had never had a boyfriend before meeting Benito. She lived these 30 years by her side and he managed her life, even the clothes she had to wear. She wouldn’t let her use her cell phone because she considered it a weapon of deception.

“You’re like killing yourself, girl,” he would have yelled at her on one occasion. “She grabbed me by the hair; once she threw me with a broom and another she gave me a patch on the face,” she recounted.
Graciela Páez, a neighbor of the victim, pointed out that the woman “lived in her house, for and for her daughters, she never left the house” and that she “did not say anything, never said anything” about what was happening inside that home .

In her statement in court, Cisneros also pointed out about her ex-husband: “Whenever he drinks, he yells at us that he is the handsome one, he is the best and he always speaks ill of his family.”
“All our problems were always born out of his jealousy,” he said. He also mentioned a violent episode: “We went to the home of the family of the boyfriend of one of our daughters. He insulted them so badly, he told them everything, that in the end they fired him. When we returned home, drunk, he destroyed many of our things. He broke even the front door.”
“On another occasion, he grabbed my middle daughter with tape. The poor things are very afraid of him because he insults them and treats them worse every time he is drinking,” he emphasized.
In addition to physical violence, the bricklayer exercised economic violence on the victim. “He leaves me for food and controls what I spend. Weekends are terrifying because he gets drunk and treats us as he wants and says the worst,” he said.
In the last ten years in Argentina there has been an average of one femicide every 30 hours. According to the latest report from the Women’s Office of the National Supreme Court of Justice, during 2020 there were 287 fatalities: 251 direct femicide and 36 linked femicide.
