A 7th grade student from Michigan is hailed as a “hero” for safely stopping his school bus after his driver suffered a medical episode behind the wheel.

Dillon Reeves, 13, was seen on video acting Wednesday afternoon as he and other Carter Middle School students in Warren, Michigan, made their way home for the day.

“When you have an anchor like Dillon handling business on the bus, it was a really good day for us,” Robert Livernois, Superintendent of Warren Consolidated Schools, said at a news conference this week.

Footage released by the precinct begins with the female driver waving her hat near her face in an attempt to cool herself.

About 15 seconds later, the driver was seen experiencing a medical episode as the bus began to drift slowly to the left.

Reeves is then seen running to the front of the bus, grabbing hold of the steering wheel and putting his foot on the brake.

“Someone is calling 911 now, someone is calling 911,” he tells the other students as screams can be heard. “I don’t care! Someone is calling 911!”
