Hezbollah has had almost daily firefights with Israeli forces along the border since the outbreak of the Gaza war.

The head of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has met with top leaders of the Palestinian armed groups of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and discussed what their alliance must do to achieve a “total victory” over Israel, a Hezbollah statement said.

The statement said Wednesday’s meeting involved Hezbollah’s Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri and Islamic Jihad chief Ziad al-Nakhala, without naming the location.

“The leaders have addressed the latest developments since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and the events that followed on all fronts, including the clashes over the border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine,” Lebanese state media Al-Manar quoted the statement as saying. : Referring to the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas fighters, which killed at least 1,400 people in Israel and triggered a retaliation that in turn killed more than 5,700 people in Gaza.

“Sayyed Nasrallah, together with Nakhale and al-Arouri, assessed the international and regional positions, as well as the steps that the Axis of Resistance had to take at this critical stage to achieve a total victory and stop the brutal attack on the oppressed people . of Gaza and the West Bank,” the statement said.

Since the October 7 attack, Hezbollah has had almost daily firefights with Israeli forces along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

The Lebanese group announced on Wednesday that two more of its fighters had been killed, bringing the death toll in its ranks since the conflict began to 40.

On Tuesday, the Health Ministry said 704 Palestinians, including 305 children, were killed as Israel stepped up its aggression against the enclave.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Tuesday’s death toll was the highest in a single day since the conflict began.

At least 100 people have also been killed in clashes with the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Amid fears that the conflict could spread across the Middle East, the Israeli military said its fighter jets would also hit Syrian army infrastructure in response to missiles launched from the neighboring country.

While the military did not provide further details, it did not accuse the Syrian army of firing the two missiles.

Syria’s state news agency (SANA), citing a military source, said the Israeli attack killed eight soldiers and wounded seven near the southwestern city of Deraa.
