The data that has been revealed about the case of the Honduran woman who tried to poison her children in Mallorca, Spain is increasingly disturbing.
According to local media, the woman and children are out of danger. She is under police surveillance at the Son Espases hospital, they are waiting for her recovery to make her available to the judicial authorities.
The facts date back to Sunday morning. The Mallorcan police officers received a notice that there was a problem in a house in Manacor.
The person who raised the alarm was the ex-partner of the suspect, who is the father of the 4-year-old boy who, together with his 14-year-old sister, was about to die at the hands of his mother.
Upon arriving at the home, the agents found the woman lying on the floor and not responding to the stimuli. The two minors, who were conscious, also showed symptoms of not feeling well.
The first to arrive at the house were the agents of the Manacor Local Police, who later asked their colleagues from the National Police for help.
According to the Última Hora portal, the mother and her children were urgently taken to Son Espases by a medical ambulance that also traveled to the family home.
Hours later, and after carrying out the tests on the children at the hospital, both tested positive for benzodiazepines, which, presumably, their mother had given them.
They were admitted in a less serious condition, but stable and there is no fear for their lives. When the agents found out about this, they went to the hospital on Sunday afternoon and proceeded to arrest the suspect, who is accused of attempted murder, and who was also admitted there.
What happened? The arrested woman and her ex-partner had decided to end the relationship two months ago. Despite this, all this time they had lived together. This is how they both agreed due to the economic situation they were both going through when their courtship ended.
According to people close to this family, on Sunday the woman sedated her children, a 4-year-old boy and a 14-year-old teenager. After drugging them with powerful drugs, she gave them rat poison in their food, causing the minors to collapse.
The agents who took charge of the case have found numerous medications at the home of the now detainee, many of them benzodiazepines, and also a package of rat poison, inside which more than half were missing.
According to Última Hora, the woman grabbed a cushion and tried to suffocate her 14-year-old daughter. After her attempt to kill her children, she spoke to her ex-partner who was sleeping in a neighboring room and told him what she had done and was there the man called the authorities seeking help for his son and stepdaughter.
The woman became critical and the children also had to be attended to urgently, although their condition was less serious, with severe drowsiness and discomfort.
Fortunately, and thanks to rapid police action, there is no fear for the lives of either of the two children, who continue to be admitted to the most important health center on the Islands.
The identity of the woman has not been revealed, although the authorities have said that it is a 33-year-old woman of Honduran origin.
