Household dies in New York aircraft crash following Cooperstown baseball match: police

A household of 5 from Georgia has died in a small aircraft crash in upstate New York after leaving a baseball match in Cooperstown, police say. 

The victims, recognized as Harrison VanEpps, 10, James VanEpps, 12, Ryan VanEpps, 42, Laura VanEpps, 43 and Roger Beggs, 76, had been killed Sunday afternoon within the accident close to Lake Cecil Street within the city of Masonville, based on New York State Police. 

“The entire passengers are relations from the state of Georgia and had been in Cooperstown, NY for a baseball match,” police mentioned.

“The aircraft departed from Alfred S. Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta, NY and was touring to West Virginia to refuel with its final vacation spot as Cobb County Worldwide Airport in Atlanta, Georgia,” State Police added.

Cooperstown is the house of the Nationwide Baseball Corridor of Fame and Museum. 

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Monday referred to as the incident “tragic,” and requested the general public to hitch him and his household “in praying for the family members of the Beggs and VanEpps households,” WSB-TV reported.

“We provide our deepest condolences to all who knew and cherished them,” the governor reportedly added.

The Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating the crash together with the Nationwide Transportation Security Board, instructed Fox Information Digital that the aircraft concerned within the crash was a single-engine Piper PA-46.

All these on board the aircraft died, the FAA added.

An NTSB spokesperson instructed Fox Information Digital that the company is searching for witness experiences as they “will probably be very useful to the investigation.” 

“A multi-agency effort search of the world, with the utilization of drones, ATV’s and helicopters led to the invention of particles and in the end to the downed plane,” New York State Police mentioned.

New York State Police added that its “Bureau of Prison of Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit are working at the side of the Federal Aviation Administration and Nationwide Transportation Board to find out the reason for the crash.”
