Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones on Wednesday grew to become the newest sufferer to be focused in a “swatting” incident, he mentioned.

The Republican tweeted Thursday that his dwelling was “swatted” the earlier evening and a bomb menace was referred to as in to his workplace. 

“Let me be clear – I cannot be intimidated by these making an attempt to silence me,” Jones wrote. “We’ll put an finish to this insanity. We’re in full compliance with legislation enforcement, and I’m assured that these accountable shall be dropped at justice and be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the legislation.”

“Swatting” entails calling 911 and faking an emergency that attracts a response from legislation enforcement, sometimes a SWAT crew. In current weeks, a rising variety of politicians have been focused in swatting incidents. 

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who has been a sufferer of the transfer a number of occasions, has vowed to introduce laws “to make it simpler for legislation enforcement to arrest and prosecute these criminals.” 

Different current victims have included Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Rep. Brandon Williams, R-N.Y., and Ohio State Consultant Kevin D. Miller.

Earlier this month, the nonprofit group Safe Group Community (SCN) documented almost 200 swatting incidents over 24 hours focusing on Jewish services throughout dozens of states.
