In a house in the La Guardia neighborhood, east of the city of Santa Fe, two birthdays were celebrated. Until the party was marred by tragedy. Two guests died. One of them was a 21-year-old police officer who accidentally shot a 22-year-old friend of his in the head.

The agent, who was on duty and -according to witnesses- manipulated the weapon as a game, ran out and took his own life half a block from the house. “I’m not going to put up with what happened,” were his last words.

The dramatic episode occurred shortly before 2 this Friday in a property located on Urbano Pedriel street at 4300. The birthday of a woman (49) and her daughter (17) were celebrated there. The victims were two friends of another of the family’s children.

Brian Mendoza, a native of Santo Tomé and with services in the Regional Unit II of Rosario, was “playing” with his weapon, witnesses said. At one point, he missed a shot that hit the head of José Ignacio Montaño, a native of the La Guardia neighborhood.

The cash fled running from the home. He did 70 meters and took his own life. When the Police arrived, alerted by a call to 911, they found the body with a shot to the head. Next to him was a Taurus brand 9-millimeter pistol.

“When some of the young guests went to a room to rest, I heard screams and a shot. I went to the door and found what had happened,” said Carlos, the owner of the house.

“I thought something had happened to one of my children. The policeman jumped up and ran away. He stopped, pointed the gun at me, saying that he was not going to bear what had happened. I stopped a highway van or from the Municipality who called the Command and when the police arrived the young man was on the other block and shot himself,” explained the man, in dialogue with Aire de Santa Fe.

Regarding what happened inside the house, he said: “My son told me that they were playing, that this boy always had the habit of playing. They were very good people, we could not find an explanation for what happened. It is very sad.”

The investigation was carried out by the Santa Fe prosecutor Estanislao Giavedoni, with the intervention of the expert area of ​​the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC). The bodies were transferred to the Judicial Morgue for autopsies.

A 36-year-old man was shot to death while having a beer on the sidewalk of his house and was attacked by two men who shot at him from a car. It was the 113th crime in Rosario so far this year.

The event was recorded this Thursday around 11:30 p.m. on Unión Street at 2800 in the La Cerámica neighborhood, an area of ​​Rosario where the adolescent Jeremías López (15) was murdered in another shooting last Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Luis Alberto Gómez (36), who received multiple impacts and fell badly injured on the sidewalk, after which he was taken by relatives to the area hospital.

The doctors verified that Gómez had three gunshot wounds, one in the thorax and another two in the lower extremities, as a result of which he died around 0.30 this morning.

The man was sitting on a bench on the sidewalk of his home drinking a beer when he was surprised by two men driving a gray Chevrolet Meriva car with tinted windows, from where they opened fire, after which they escaped at high speed.

From the crime scene, the experts from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) seized two served pods, three deformed lead bullets and a piece of jacketing.

The victim’s corpse was transferred to the Legal Medical Institute of the Regional Unit II of Rosario for the practice of the rigorous autopsy. Investigators seek to establish whether the attackers opened fire against the facade of the house or if the target was the victim.

The investigation of the event was left in the hands of the intentional homicide prosecutor on duty in Rosario, Carla Cerliani, who ordered the analysis of surveillance cameras in the area to establish the mechanics of the event and identify the aggressors.

With the crime of Gómez, there are 113 homicides registered so far this year in the Rosario Department and the twelfth of the current month, where there was a rate of one crime per day.
