A beautiful filter on Tik Tok called “Bold Glamour” has sparked discussions as people find it very disturbing that this effect looks so real.
The filter automatically modifies users’ facial features. According to an expert, Bold Glamor uses a machine learning technology compared to traditional filters.
“These filters need to stop,” says one Tik Tok user.
The filter has already been used on 15.8 million videos, but some say it makes them feel worse about their appearance.

According to a 2021 study, face-altering software is linked to the desire to get plastic surgery.
“As with all Tik Tok effects, videos featuring the Bold Glamor effect are revealed with a tag directly in the video, so users can transparently see which effects are being used,” said a Tik Tok spokesperson.
