The suspect who allegedly shot four people on Father’s Day in Kellogg, Idaho, is a neighbor of the victims, according to police.
Idaho state police said on Monday that the 31-year-old man charged with committing the quadruple homicide was held at the scene Sunday night and has since been incarcerated at the Shoshone County jail on probable homicide charges.
“This is a tragic situation that will impact the Kellogg community. Detectives continue to work to establish a timeline and what led up to the shooting,” Idaho State Police Lieutenant Paul Berger, who is investigating the case, said in the statement. press release.
Sunday’s Kellogg shooting occurred about 70 miles from a quadruple homicide in Moscow where suspect Bryan Kohberger, 28, is charged with killing four students at the University of Idaho in November.

The Shoshone County coroner’s office has not yet released the identities of the victims or the manner in which they died.
On Monday, the Idaho State Police released a statement to update the public on the shooting.
“Detectives are releasing that the suspect is the neighbors of the victims,” the state police said. “However, neither the relations between the parties nor the suspect’s motive will be confirmed by law enforcement until after the first court hearing when documents become available through the courts. Detectives are confident that all parties to this murder have been identified and do not believe that there is a constant danger to the community.”
At about 7:20 p.m. on Father’s Day, the Shoshone County hotline received an 911 call saying several people had died at a residence on West Brown Ave in Kellogg, police said.
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and found four victims dead, each with gunshot wounds. A 31-year-old male suspect was quickly arrested.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies and Kellogg Police Department officers continue to investigate the shooting.
“As this case will go through the legal process, we are making sure every angle is addressed with a thorough investigation,” Police Lieutenant Berger said.
