There is another background here,” were the first words of Héctor Cuevas’ statement (50). , one of the 14 policemen who are being tried for the crime of Lucas González (17) and the attempted murder of his three colleagues from Barracas Central.
Cuevas named a colleague: Facundo “Cachorro” Torres. He pointed him out as the driver of the motorcycle on which Gabriel Isassi (one of the three accused for the crime and the attempts, the others are accused for the cover-up) would have gone to the police station to look for the toy weapon that would later be planted in the car the teenagers were in when they were attacked. Cuevas declared last Thursday; Torres was arrested on Saturday.
In the hearing this Tuesday, the Oral Court (TOC) 25 decided to incorporate two new pieces of evidence: a video in which the motorcycle tour of both police officers is observed and Torres’ statement. In addition, Gregorio Dalbón, a lawyer for Lucas’s family and the survivors, was supposed to start the closing arguments of the trial, but several defenders of the police officers asked for an intermission room to analyze the new evidence. Then, they would decide whether to declare or not.
The Court set a new hearing for next Thursday. There, it is believed, more than one police officer could expand their investigation. It is estimated that the resolution would be known in July.
Another novelty is that Cuevas was transferred to Ezeiza Penitentiary Complex 1. The rest continue to spend their days in the pavilions of module 4 of Marcos Paz, for detainees with a past in the security forces, their relatives and defendants and convicted of crimes against humanity.
