The Independence Cup which started its journey on April 24 from the historic place in Nakfa with sacred ground, reached the southern region and ended its journey through the southern Red Sea region.
The handover ceremony held today, April 7, in Kohaito was attended by officials from the two regions, army commanders, village elders and some residents of the Adi-Keih sub-zone.
The Independence Cup was presented to Mr. Habteab Tesfatsion, Governor of the Southern Region by Ambassador Mohammed-Seid Mantai, Governor of the Southern Red Sea Region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Habteab indicated that the handing over of the Independence Cup at the historic site of Kohaito has a deep meaning and expressed his pride to receive the cup with sacred earth.
Mr. Habteab also presented the Independence Cup to Mr. Habtai Tesfazghi, Administrator of Adi-Keih Sub-Zone.
Upon reaching the city of Adi-Keih, the Independence Cup was warmly welcomed by the citizens of Adi-Keih and members of the armed forces with cultural and artistic performances and military marches.
After his journey in Adi-Keih Sub-Zone, the Independence Cup was presented to Mr. Idris Ali Shiker, Administrator of Senafe Sub-Zone.
