A girl is in intensive care after she was attacked by wolves whereas jogging in a zoo close to Paris, French media report.
They are saying the 36-year-old sufferer – who was staying at a lodge in Thoiry Park – wandered into the principle safari space, which is reserved for automobiles, early on Sunday.
She was attacked by three Arctic wolves and suffered extreme bites on her neck, again and one leg.
Thoiry, about 40 km west of Paris, is among the hottest wildlife parks in France. About 800 animals stored there are allowed to roam freely as guests watch them from the security of autos.
The park provides lodging close to the wolf and bear enclosures, with the lodge space protected by electrical fences and locks, information website France Data studies.
It isn’t clear why the girl entered the car-free safari space. Park authorities haven’t commented to date.
“We do not know in the intervening time if the visitor made a mistake or if there was an issue with the signposts,” an unnamed police supply instructed Le Parisien newspaper.
The girl was rescued after park rangers heard her screams as she was being attacked, and was taken to a close-by hospital.
An investigation is underway.
