It was not the night for the Belgian Romelu Lukaku. The 30-year-old footballer took Dzeko’s place at minute 57 of the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.
The striker was chosen by Simone Inzaghi to break the game, but just 10 minutes after his entry, City took the lead thanks to a goal from Rodri.
With the score against, Lukaku’s role became more relevant, since together with Lautaro Martínez they had the task of scoring at least one goal to force extra time.
However, Lukaku’s night was not good, since at 71′ he avoided what could have been the equalizer for Inter, since Dimarco smashed a shot off the crossbar and headed the rebound, but to the misfortune of the Nerazzurri, the Belgian got into the trajectory of the ball and Bernardo Silva cleared the danger.

But that was not all, since later, at 89′, the striker rose only in the air and with full advantage headed a ball in the direction of Ederson’s goal, however, his shot did not take much direction and the Brazilian goalkeeper reacted and pure reflex avoided the draw.

Shortly after, the Polish Szymon Marciniak, referee of the match, ended the match and City established itself as the new king of Europe by winning the 2022-2023 Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Pep Guardiola arrived at City seven years ago and after several eliminations and a lost final, he gave the English team their first European Cup.
