A group of Malaysian navy personnel have been praised for jumping into the sea to save a puppy from drowning.

A two-minute, 23-second video uploaded to TikTok Monday night showed a Navy crew member jumping into the water from a dock after he and his colleagues spotted the dog.

Armed with a life preserver and later a bucket, he swam towards the pup, who swam away from him.

One of his colleagues later jumped into the water to help him.

Together they managed to rescue the struggling puppy who was placed in a bucket before being dragged onto the deck by others.

It is not known where or when in Malaysia the incident took place, but the video has been viewed more than 486,000 times and netizens praised the officers for their good deed.

“Kudos TLDM… May you be blessed by Allah,” said a commenter with the ucop handle, using the Malaysian Navy Malay acronym.

Another commenter with the handle kaknor said, “I feel both happiness and worry (watching the video), but thanks anyway for all your help.”

But others had a humorous take on the incident.

“The puppy trains our staff until they are tired themselves,” said Libran2020.
