San Juan, Puerto Rico — A Maryland man accused of defrauding 28 federal chapter courts of greater than $1.8 million in unclaimed funds has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Puerto Rico, authorities stated Tuesday.

Officers stated the suspect used an digital submitting system to seek for chapter instances with unclaimed funds after which filed false purposes to acquire the cash.

If convicted, the suspect faces a jail sentence of 20 years.
