REGINA – Police in Regina say a man has been charged twice with attempted murder after allegedly running over a woman who was stabbed twice in the street as officers fired at a truck to stop him.

Investigators say they responded to a report about an injured woman early Saturday.
They allege that while officers at the scene tried to talk to a man in a truck who was nearby, he grounded the vehicle and backed into the woman.
Police ordered him to stop and get out, but they say he refused and began driving at high speed towards officers and the victim.
Police say officers opened fire on the truck to stop it, but it ran over the woman a second time and then drove off.
Officers tracked the vehicle and arrested a 54-year-old man in a rural area northeast of Regina a short time later, and he will appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday.
Police say the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening and her condition in hospital was stable.
No injuries were reported as the officers fired their guns, police said.
Police say they are also watching the firing of the officers’ firearms and the chase.
In addition, they say the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team will oversee the two assessments and any use of force will also be reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission.
