Gaetz spoke out to Fox News, accusing two of his hosts of oversexualizing Ocasio-Cortez.
Two hosts of “The Five” joked last week about how Gaetz could divorce his wife and marry Ocasio-Cortez.
“They wouldn’t do that to men,” Gaetz said in a Tuesday episode of his “Firebrand” podcast.
Representative Matt Gaetz criticized two Fox News talk show hosts “The Five” for making fun of him and over-sexualizing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and his Democratic colleague.
In a Tuesday episode of his podcast “Firebrand”.the Florida Republican said he didn’t like the two hosts — Greg Gutfeld and Jeanine Pirro — speculating that he might end his marriage to his wife, Ginger Luckey, and marry Ocasio-Cortez instead.
“I have a bone to pick with The Five,” Gaetz said on his podcast, speaking with Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs.
“And it seems a little childish to me that the media always over-sexualises anything AOC is involved in,” he said. “They wouldn’t do that to men, and two people can get involved in serious legislation that isn’t renaming some post office. We’re trying to make our Congress more fair and ethical — without that kind of, I think, very childish and immature commentary .”
Gaetz responded to Gutfeld’s suggestion that the Florida legislature and Ocasio-Cortez could get together. This was after Gaetz and Ocasio-Cortez teamed up push a new bipartisan bill to prohibit Congress from trading stocks.
“I smell a romantic comedy. A beautiful leftist communist congress, a dashing right-winger, fresh off a wrongful allegation of sexual misconduct,” Gutfeld said.
He added, “They come together to fight one of the most corrupt practices in politics, and they fall in love. They can’t help it.”
Pirro, who is also one of the show’s five hosts, then said she would like to be the officiant at Gaetz and Ocasio-Cortez’s wedding.

Gaetz also slammed Pirro, saying, “And then Judge Jeanine – Judge Jeanine, who begins to say that I am happily married. Although the duo has historical clash about their political ideologies, Gaetz said Fox News’ Jesse Watters on May 2 that while Ocasio-Cortez is “much wrong”, she is “not corrupt”.
He also defended Ocasio-Cortez in the past.
“I can confirm that AOC gets along with many of her Republican colleagues on a range of things that have nothing to do with law or politics. She’s not a bitch,” Gaetz said. tweeted in July 2020.
Representatives from Fox News, Gaetz and Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment that were sent outside of regular business hours.
