A Michigan man is wanted in connection with an alleged dog fighting ring after deputies found eight chained dogs in a yard and six others starving and rotting away, authorities said Friday.
Casey Autry Kidd, 29, has an arrest warrant for abandoning animals, Genesee County Sheriff Christopher Swanson said at a news conference.
“We believe these dogs were used in a potential dog fighting ring,” Swanson said.
The sheriff said some of the dogs had multiple stages of scars and injuries suggestive of dog fighting.

Two of the dogs found alive had chips and officials worked to reunite all eight dogs with their owners.
One of the microchipped dogs, a Boston Terrier, was reunited with his owner last week.
The sheriff’s office shared video of the second microchipped dog’s reunion with her family on Friday, following the sheriff’s press conference.

Officials said Kidd is a frequent offender with a “dangerous criminal record” with multiple arrests for home burglaries, assault and drug charges.
“We’re not asking anyone to put themselves in danger,” Swanson said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the Kidd’s whereabouts to call the sheriff’s office at 810-257-3422 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.
