Los Angeles firefighters have found one dead after locating a small plane that went missing over a foggy part of the city and crashed Saturday night, authorities said.
The single-engine plane was found at about 11:20 p.m. on a steep slope above a home in Beverly Glen Circle in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
One victim was found at the scene. The pilot was not immediately identified and it was assumed no one else was on the plane.
An air traffic controller initially reported the plane missing earlier Saturday evening after losing radar contact with the plane, the fire service said.

Helicopters and ground crews from the fire department searched for nearly an hour before a helicopter found a signal from a radio beacon from an aircraft emergency position near Beverly Glen Terrace and Beverly Glen Boulevard.
