The Club World Cup changes formats, as the FIFA Council has unanimously decided to organize it for the first time in the United States of America. In 2025, one year before the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, declared that the United States of America offers the ideal infrastructure to organize such an event. For the first time, it will be held with a new format, with 32 participating teams.
The Club World Cup will be held between June and July 2025, on the same dates as the World Cup a year later. As the 32 participating teams are divided:
4 from the African confederation, 4 from the Asian confederation, 4 from the North American confederation, 1 from Oceania, 6 from the South American confederation and 12 from the European one. And one from the host country.
With the new format, the Club World Cup will be organized once every 4 years. And it is expected to offer another football spectacle, just like the World Cup./Supersport
