The commander of the New Hampshire Air Nationwide Guard was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on Monday, police mentioned.
The Rochester Police Division introduced in a social media put up on Tuesday that 57-year-old John Pogorek, the brigadier normal, assistant adjutant normal commander of the New Hampshire Air Nationwide Guard, was killed within the crash.
Authorities mentioned {that a} preliminary investigation revealed that the 57-year-old married father of 5 stopped his 2014 Toyota Tundra on the aspect of the street when the incident occurred.

He first joined the New Hampshire Air Nationwide Guard in January 1999.
“Gen. Pogorek was an exemplary wingman, mentor and buddy to many,” New Hampshire Adjutant Gen. David Mikolaities mentioned in an announcement, “He served his state and nation with the utmost professionalism and dedication. He might be deeply missed.”

In an announcement on X, Gov. Chris Sununu thanked Pogorek for his lifetime of service to his nation.
“On behalf of the complete State of New Hampshire, I prolong my honest condolences to the household of Gen. Pogorek,” Sununu wrote. “Gen. Pogorek served his state, nation, and neighborhood with honor. His dedication and contributions to the Granite State won’t ever be forgotten.”
He’s survived by his spouse, Whitney Pogorek, and their 5 youngsters.
