New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law Friday allowing doctors to prescribe abortion pills to nonresidents of the state. states can stop their healthcare providers from providing abortion pills. If that’s your state, I feel sorry for your constituents. But they can’t stop us. They can’t stop our providers,” Hochul said at a signing ceremony.
A law protecting New York doctors who prescribe abortion pills to patients in states where the procedure is banned was signed into law on Friday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, who said the measure would serve women living in states with a ban.
A year after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down nationwide abortion rights, the law barred New York officials from cooperating in certain legal actions initiated in states where abortion is banned, such as arrests or extraditions. New York joins several other states with similar telehealth “shield” laws.
“Extremist lawmakers in other states can stop their providers from dispensing abortion pills. If that’s your state, I feel sorry for your voters. But they can’t stop us. They can’t stop our providers,” Hochul, a Democrat, said during a signing ceremony.

New York has already introduced protections for medical professionals who provide abortion care to patients traveling from states with prohibitions or restrictions. But Hochul and lawmakers extended protections to telehealth services at a time when more than half of U.S. abortions are performed with medication.
Dr. Linda Prine, co-founder of ACT Access, said they will send pills once the legislation is signed.

The order prohibits local prosecutors from filing abortion-related charges and state agencies from assisting criminal investigations without a warrant. In addition, Arizona will not honor extradition requests for people wanted for assisting, providing, or seeking an abortion.
