Donnelly announced the sentencing of Lex Lloyd, 26, who pleaded guilty on February 15, 2023 to second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, first-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree conspiracy, second degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and threatening.

“The defendant brutally prepared narcotics near children’s toys and furniture in a fully functioning daycare center,” Donnelly said in a press release. “Numerous children have been endangered by this defendant’s conduct. In separate incidents, Lex Lloyd further endangered another child by assaulting a romantic rival, who was with his son, nearly killing the man in February 2021.
“I thank our prosecutors and the many law enforcement agencies who helped bring Lloyd and 40 other co-defendants to justice as part of Operation Honeycomb.”

Donnelly added that in October 2019 her office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives launched an investigation into increased violence and narcotics in Hempstead.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Lloyd’s home and found 520 grams of cocaine, 50 oxycodone pills, two narcotics presses, and several bullets.

The investigation revealed that Lloyd and Anthony Austin operated a narcotics business out of unlicensed daycare centers in Queens, Rosedale, and Hempstead, and that Lloyd would prepare cocaine in a daycare facility using acetone.

In addition, Lloyd shot a man in the back on February 10, 2021, when the victim’s 3-year-old son was in a nearby car.
Lloyd threatened the victim again in December 2020, when the man held his son’s hand. Detectives discovered that Lloyd was romantically involved with the victim’s ex-girlfriend.
Lloyd was arrested along with 40 others as part of Operation Honeycomb.
One of the defendants, Stephon Ofs, pleaded guilty in September 2022 to operating as a major trafficker who made more than $500,000 in three months selling cocaine.
