Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom rejected claims of hypocrisy in the migrant crisis, saying there is a distinction between the Biden administration flying illegal immigrants across the country and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sending them to liberal enclaves as Martha’s Vineyard flies into its long-awaited session. -down interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity,

In clips previewing Newson’s interview with the Fox News host, which will air extensively Monday on “Hannity,” Newsom called DeSantis’ behavior “a stunt.”

“It’s embarrassing; pathetic,” he said.

Hannity said DeSantis was doing the right thing, noting that Florida is not a place of refuge — as DeSantis’ and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s migrant movers – like New York, Colorado and Massachusetts – strongly favor politicians who support open border policies.

“Out of the goodness of his heart he just wanted to help people? Give me a break, Sean,” Newsom replied.

Hannity countered by asking if the same standard that applied to DeSantis also applies to Biden. The host noted that the Biden administration has flown countless numbers of migrants in the dead of night to Purchase, NY, Allentown, Pa., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and other medium-sized cities.

The Fox News host noted that the federal flights are indeed targeting smaller airports — citing how Biden seemed to favor Westchester County Airport on the New York-Connecticut line over JFK and LaGuardia; two major airports in the same area.

Newsom said he is directly involved with the Biden administration over the coordination of flights arriving in his state, suggesting that DeSantis has not informed him of flights he orchestrated that recently landed in Sacramento.

Newsom previously said he plans to launch a criminal investigation into migrant flights bound for the capital, telling NBC News that “the money should stop with Ron DeSantis and the games he plays.”

Hannity suggested that federal red-eye flights to Purchase, NY, are deliberately staged to avoid notice and scrutiny.

“(It’s) not perfect, but they coordinate — and there’s a different spirit. There’s a different level of engagement that’s different in daylight and darkness,” he said. “There’s some humility in it.”

Hannity asked if Biden is “dumping” migrants in Florida without DeSantis’ approval, leading Newsom to disagree with the “dumping people” premise.

When asked what the main difference is between Biden and DeSantis’ behavior on that front, Newsom replied, “Everything.”

“Pretending, manipulation, misrepresentation…”

Newsom also disagreed with claims that Biden is not cognitively good enough to be president, saying he has been on Air Force One with the president and has seen no problems.

When Newsom realized the host was about to press whether he should replace Biden in 2024, the governor replied, “No — I’m not answering.”

However, the Liberal Democrat rarely praised former President Donald Trump, saying he worked closely and substantively with him during the coronavirus pandemic.

“It was unbelievable. He… didn’t play politics during COVID with California – didn’t play anything at all – it’s a fact.”

Newsom joked that he was harshly criticized by his own party for such compliments to Trump.

As for Trump’s charge, Newsom responded with one word: “Sad.”

“I say that as an American.”
