With a sweet smile and kindness that characterize her, Andrea Santos, 20, came to this newspaper yesterday to deliver an order in the afternoon.
While making the delivery, the sampedrana shared that she started working as a delivery eight months ago, since she needed a part-time job to continue her academic training.
The young woman reported that she was born in the Chamelecón sector and in secondary school she decided to study a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, while studying a refrigeration technician.
This is because he wanted to be able to find a job after graduation to pay for college and help his parents.
After graduating from high school, he started selling food at home and worked in a factory, but he quit to follow his dreams.
Andrea recounted that while she was looking for a part-time job, her cousin suggested that she work as a delivery person, but she was hesitant at first because she was afraid of being singled out.
However, his desire to get ahead was greater and he dared to register in a delivery application.
“The first days were difficult, I still felt sorry for it, but I decided that I would not let them limit me,” he said.
Santos, who is in her first year of Nursing, said that she chose this career motivated by her brother, who was in his last year of nursing when he was killed in an assault.
During the week, Andrea attends classes in the morning and, starting at noon, she travels the streets of San Pedro Sula making deliveries on her motorcycle.
The young woman ended the conversation by expressing that her greatest desire is to graduate with honors and work in the public health system to serve the citizens of Sampedrana.
