New Zealand start-up Glimp now provides the tools New Zealanders need to get the best deal on their travel insurance, enabling them to travel safely – and cheaper – around the world.
Glimp was founded in 2016, following a strong demand from Kiwis who want to compare prices on utilities, internet, credit cards, insurance and mortgages. After Kiwis provided a platform to compare home and car insurance policies, Glimp now offers an easy and free solution to compare travel insurance providers and plans.
Glimpse became a dream come true for co-founders Michael Speight and Denis Tyur’kov after they made a decision to change their lives. With enough savings, they both chose to quit their jobs in June 2015 and put all their effort and focus into Glimp.
Michael came up with the idea for Glimp after coming to New Zealand and meeting Denis in July 2015. Fast-forward a few months to September, and they started working on Glimpse. Along with their joint efforts, the Glimp website was launched in January 2016 offering broadband comparison and power comparison soon after.
Glimp co-founders Michael and Denis launched Glimp after recognizing a market need for unbiased price comparisons between New Zealand service providers. “Hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders have used Glimp since its launch 2 years ago.” says Speight. “Thousands of these people have switched providers during this time, which could save them a lot of money in the long run.”
“It’s very satisfying to bring these kinds of solutions to everyday Kiwis.” adds Tyur’kov. “So many of them are unaware that they can save hundreds every year by looking at what competing companies can offer them. The fact that our website is free and easy to use means that everyone can benefit and make good use of Glimpse .”
The travel insurance comparison tool on Glimp allows Kiwis to compare different options based on their destination and flight date. The comparison tool then offers a variety of options likely to fit their travel needs, along with a full breakdown of what’s included in each plan’s coverage. The whole process of comparing travel insurance companies generally takes less than five minutes!
