The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, has formalized the appointment of Fernando Diniz, for one year, as the temporary coach of the Brazilian national team.
From June 2024, the coach who will lead the “Seleção” will be Carlo Ancelotti.
The current coach of Fluminense will combine the two duties. He will continue in charge of the “Tricolor” from Rio de Janeiro and will also lead the national team at FIFA dates.
Diniz will be presented to the press this Wednesday at the CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
“Fernando Diniz will lead the Brazil team for one year. I’m sure he will do it very professionally, as he always has been,” said Rodrigues.
The coach, for his part, assured that the choice is “a pride and an honor”.
“I coached some of Brazil’s current players when they were younger like: Bruno Guimarães and Antony. I followed the growth of that whole generation a lot…”
Ednaldo Rodrigues has assured that Carlo Ancelotti will be in charge of the Brazilian team from June 2024. He said that Diniz will have full autonomy during this period:
“He is the coach, he will lead Fluminense and the national team. For us, as the coach of the Brazilian team, it is not temporary. He has a 12-month contract. He will make the transition to Ancelotti, who will arrive for the Copa América.”
The next edition of the Copa Américas will be held in the United States between June 20 and July 14, 2024.
The Champions League final will be played on June 1 and LaLiga ends earlier on May 26, so Carlo Ancelotti will have time to finish the season with Real before joining Brazil. /Supersport
