It happened in Fuerte Apache. Cristian was driving the line 161 unit when he was surprised by two criminals.

Cristian answers the call after finishing one of his tours. Yes, he kept working despite having experienced his first robbery on the bus. He was driving the bus for line 161 that was robbed in Fuerte Apache and in which a passenger was hit with a rifle butt. The only thing left for him “is to assimilate, normalize and continue”. He works until 3 in the morning, according to what he tells Clarín.

At the beginning, he clarifies that he does not want to give his last name, for safety’s sake, because the fear is still running through his body, like when he had to restart the bus.

The event occurred on Tuesday night, Cristian was making one of his first trips. “I was in Liniers, passengers begin to get on, to get tickets as always. When I get to the Fuerte Apache neighborhood, they ring my bell, the door opens and then they start robbing all the passengers,” the driver recalled.

Cristian did not suffer any type of injury, but he did suffer a passenger injury: “They grabbed a woman who was distracted, she refused to give him her cell phone, they hit her on the forehead with a rifle butt and they took the device from her. And when they were about to go down, they triggered a boy who was at the bottom even after giving him the cell phone.

The driver was surprised by the impunity with which the thieves, between the ages of 18 and 25, got out of the unit after unleashing fear and desolation on top of the bus: “They got off as if nothing had happened, they walked away.”

The violence against the bus drivers does not stop and the Gendarmerie controls above the buses seem not to be enough.

“The truth is that we are very unprotected, we need more security, one leaves the house to look for daily bread, but does not know if he is going to return alive. We need more help, more security, ”he claimed.

At the end, the driver explained that the Fuerte Apache area “is always dangerous” and that several of his companions suffered from insecurity.

Three robberies in one night

While the colleagues of Daniel Barrientos, the driver of line 620 who was murdered in Virrey del Pino, continue to mourn his loss, the bus drivers once again organized to demand measures against three new attacks on buses from different lines in the suburbs. The events triggered new claims and some services were interrupted.

The first of the episodes was in Cuartel V, Moreno’s district, when a driver from line 520 made the last trip to the terminal. Two blocks from a police station, two false passengers boarded the unit and stole the driver’s cell phone, 400 pesos, and shoes.

When one of the assailants got off the bus, near the roundabout that joins routes 24 and 25, the one who was on top of the unit hit the bus driver on the head with his butt. The two robbers then escaped, while the victim was treated at a hospital.

Meanwhile, during the early hours of Tuesday a bus from line 57 was attacked with stones on the Camino del Buen Ayre, near the town of General Rodríguez.

The drivers denounced that the attacks are common in the area and demand more security, since they maintain that they throw stones to cause them to stop and then assault them.

The assault that closes the unfortunate triad is that of Cristian, above line 161 in Fuerte Apache.
