Commentators applauded the chair’s streamlined design, despite its awkward and hilarious snafu.tiktok.com/@martressler

Three years ago, TikTok user @martressler bought a set of four chairs on Facebook Marketplace, calling it “a bargain.”

It was “kind of a red flag” when the seller then promptly deleted his profile, she told TikTok viewers.

Last week, she said she walked into a McDonald’s in Georgia and discovered the same chairs there.

A woman three years ago was thrilled with her purchase on Facebook Marketplace, though in retrospect she felt it was “kind of a red flag” that the seller took down their page immediately after the transaction.

Today, TikTok user @martressler believes the set of four chairs she bought was probably stolen from a McDonald’s in South Georgia. She shared her awkward and hilarious discovery last week, which tickled TikTok viewers.

“I thought they were cute, and I’ve always wondered where they came from,” she said of the chairs — each with a sleek wood structure accented with a thick, black-shaded design.

In a TikTok comment, the creator noted that she paid $100 for the set, which she called “a bargain.”

But fast forward to last week, on a trip to South Georgia, @martressler said she saw the “identical” dining room chairs at a local McDonald’s. “Those are stolen chairs from McDonald’s,” the creator said to hysterical laughter in her video, which has been viewed 171,000 times.

She offered to return the “stolen artifacts” to McDonald’s — though commentators urged her to keep them, praising their streamlined design and supposed sturdiness. Other viewers noted that their local McDonald’s (in Philadelphia and Florida, according to some commentators) had the exact same furniture.

“Girl keep the seat I’m sure they have a budget for that stuff plus you paid for it ,” one person wrote.

Some users said that fast food furniture often comes from fairly reliable suppliers.

“Usually the furniture at fast food restaurants is of really good quality, because it has to wear out constantly for 5-10 years!” another noted.

People are usually amused by this turn of events.

“Imagine the crackhead energy it takes to steal seats from McDonald’s,” one person joked.

@martressler did not respond to Insider’s request for comment. Insider has also reached out to McDonald’s for comment.
