A shooting involving an Oregon State Police trooper killed one person Monday and closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 5.
Few details have been released about the shooting in Salem, Oregon. The Oregon Department of Transportation said northbound I-5 was closed due to police activity, along with one southbound lane. The Oregon State Police issued a statement saying that “a suspect has died” and that a trooper was involved.

The partial closure of the main highway between California, Oregon and Washington state caused traffic congestion. According to the Oregon State Police, traffic in the area will be affected for several hours.
The Salem Police Department will lead the investigation into the shooting, the state police said. The killed person was not identified.
