The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) is considered one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world, with a presence in almost all the states of Mexico and in a large part of the United States.
In order to show their power, the criminal group led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as “El Mencho”, often resorts to violence against rival cartels.
However, the CJNG also carries out attacks against the civilian population to maintain control of its territory and to send a message to the people who plan to intervene in its criminal operations.
According to a report published by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), the so-called four-letter cartel uses extreme violence against a large group of the population.
Through executions, kidnappings, torture and threats, the CJNG attacks activists, politicians, businessmen, journalists and lawyers, in order to establish its dominance in the states of Mexico where it has a presence.
