Associations of ex-freedom fighters and cooperative association of members of the first round of the national service organized several programs at Mai-Diminet in connection with June 20, Martyrs’ Day 2023.
The popular campaign by the members of ex-freedom fighter associations in which ministers took part included planting and cultivating tree seedlings.
The cooperative association of members of the first round of the nationwide service also organized a cultural and artistic program around Martyrs’ Day.
Speaking at the event, General Flipos Woldeyoannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Armed Forces, said that the programs being organized in connection with Martyrs Day testify to the youth’s willingness to live up to the expectations of the martyrs’ trust and praised the support the Cooperative members of the first round of national service extend to children in their academic training.
General Flipos also called for programs aimed at young people to raise their general awareness.
Ms. Askalu Menkorios, Minister of Tourism, noted that sacrificing for the sake of the country and the people, as well as meeting the expectations of the martyrs’ trust, is one of the noble cultural values of the Eritrean people, and called on the first-round members of the national service to continue their activities with vigor and commitment.
