The review of the entire legal framework in accordance with the development dynamics of the media market today, were the focus of the 19th Assembly of the Group of European Regulators for Audiovisual Media Services.
Aspects related to platforms and social media, which can guarantee in the first place a more protected environment for children, so that they are not exposed to pornography, violence, hate speech, etc., were the focus of the discussions of the European leaders of ERGA.
According to them, algorithms and electronic devices do not and should not have the right to freedom of expression, as a human right.
“It remains important to pay attention to the effects of social networks on the protection of children’s mental and physical health”, it was said during the proceedings of the Assembly.
Albania was represented by the president of AMA, Armela Krasniqi, who stated that: “AMA, as a regulator, has all the will and capacity to use the same instruments applied by the regulators of the 27 EU member states”. She addressed an initiative, as she described it, “for strengthening ties and expanding cooperation between regulators, at a time when the phenomena we face do not recognize the official borders of the Union”.
The proceedings of the 19th ERGA Plenary Assembly were held this week in Naples, Italy.
