MSNBCs Rachel Maddow said Tuesday indictment of 37 federal charges wasn’t the only bad news for it Donald Trump.
The former president, she noted, had warned his arrest would spark “the biggest outcry we’ve ever had” and predicted the nation’s people would not accept it.
“Apparently the people of the United States would stand for it,” said Maddow, noting that there were no mass protests in Miami, just as there were few supporters outside the scene of his indictment March in New York.
“It’s no shame that people aren’t protesting your arrest and charges,” she said. “Except when you’ve begged people, and said to people, and basically promised publicly that people would.”
That, she said, is “personally embarrassing” for Trump.
Fellow MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell said that’s bad news for Trump — and the former president is now painfully aware that the mob is no longer coming at his behest.
“Trump knows better than all of us: They’re not coming,” he said, then referred to the possible place of another possible indictment: “They’re not coming to Georgia.” They’re not coming. That thing is all over… he doesn’t have that anymore.”
