A Republican congressman has been charged with taking a gun into an airport outdoors Washington DC
U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz of Indiana is dealing with weapons fees after she took her firearm into Dulles Worldwide Airport in Virginia.
“Victoria Spartz, 45, of Noblesville, IN, was charged with a weapons violation at Dulles Airport on Friday, June 28,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority mentioned Tuesday.

The weapon, a .380 caliber pistol, was present in Spartz’s carry-on baggage throughout a search by the Transportation Safety Administration.
In accordance with reviews, the gun was unloaded and Spartz claims she by accident put it in her baggage.
“Final Friday, Congresswoman Spartz by accident had an unloaded firearm in her suitcase, with no journal or bullets. She didn’t notice it was within the pocket of her suitcase whereas going by safety at Dulles Airport,” a press release from Spartz’s workplace mentioned.

It continued: “Rep. Spartz was given a ticket and boarded her worldwide flight to the (Group for Safety and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Meeting) assembly in Europe.”
Spartz is a Ukrainian-born immigrant who gained her seat in Indiana’s fifth Congressional District in 2021.
