STORY: Reuters footage shot at night shows flashes and explosions over the Kiev skyline.
Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, said in comments on the Telegram messaging app that the maximum number of attack missiles were detected in the shortest time and that the vast majority of “enemy targets” in Kyiv’s airspace had been destroyed.
It was not immediately known how many objects were shot down over the city and whether any of them managed to hit their target.
After a weeks-long hiatus, Russia resumed its long-range missile strike tactics in late April and has launched a spate of attacks in recent days, often targeting Kiev. Ukraine has so far been able to fend off the vast majority of attacks.
