In celebration of its 97 years at the service of Guatemalans, the financial group continues to focus on supporting children, and it does so through initiatives like this one, which promote the adoption of technological tools in the educational field, promoting equal opportunities and fostering access to information and knowledge in students.

Funsepa has implemented the Digital Municipalities program, which aims to provide technology to the educational centers of a municipality as a solution to this problem. Bam joins this initiative to demonstrate her commitment to strengthen the future of Guatemalan children through education and technology.

“At Bam, we are sure that one action can generate a big change. That is why we continue to support our children today to bring about a big change tomorrow. We know the crucial role that technology plays in our children’s learning, as they develop new skills and allow them to fulfill their dreams. This makes this project so important to us,” said Hazel Barrundia, Bam’s vice president of marketing and branding.

The contribution of the financial institution, in support of the foundation’s program, consists of the donation of more than 633 computers for 22 primary schools, 7 secondary schools, 1 diversified school, and a Community Technology Center in the department of Alta Verapaz.

The contribution of both institutions will focus on the Santa Cruz Verapaz municipality, which currently has 90 educational centers in the public system, of which 70 lack access to technology. In addition, Bam will award another 923 individual computers so that Funsepa can use them in its digital municipalities strategy, which has a significant impact on education in the country.

“At Funsepa we have promoted this initiative for three years. So far we have inaugurated nine digital municipalities in different corners of the country. Through our impact evaluations, we found that technology in the classroom improves student performance in subjects such as Mathematics. However, the most important contribution for these children and young people is that it opens their minds to a whole world of possibilities”, said Jocelyn Skolnik, executive director of Funsepa.

The implementation of this initiative will last 2 years and, with this contribution, Bam continues to carry out actions for the benefit of future generations, guaranteeing a better quality in education and seeking to promote sustainable development to achieve the well-being of all.
