Seven women, one of them a person with a disability, were rescued on Wednesday night during a series of raids that were carried out in three towns in the province of Santa Cruz, within the framework of a case in which a defendant is being investigated. and his family environment for the alleged crime of human trafficking.
With the authorization of the Federal Court of Río Gallegos, in charge of Judge Marcelo Vázquez, simultaneous operations were carried out in four properties, located in the towns of Río Turbio, 28 de Noviembre and Río Gallegos.
It was in these different houses where they found seven women, one of them with a disability, as well as different elements relevant to the cause that were kidnapped.
As reported to the Télam news agency by federal prosecutor Julio Zárate, the victims “are assisted by the Rescue Program of the Ministry of Justice.”
The complaint that gave rise to the investigation
The investigation began as a result of a complaint made by women’s sexual services, which were promoted through different virtual platforms. Later, the prosecutor’s office learned of a second complaint made through a call to line 145, in which it targeted the same people as in the first accusation.
It was then that intelligence tasks were entrusted to the Human Trafficking Division of the Police of the Province of Santa Cruz, which corroborated that the user of the social network was used as a “window” to offer the sexual services of different women, who alternated between different towns in the region to set up meetings with customers.
Later, another complaint was added, also through line 145, from which it emerged that this same person would be dedicated to recruiting women from the province of Buenos Aires. Her methodology of hers was to offer them work in Río Gallegos, where she would sexually exploit them. She would then rotate them through different locations in the province, providing them with private apartments for accommodation.
Likewise, thanks to the intervention and collaboration of the Prosecutor’s Office for Trafficking and Exploitation of Persons (Protex) and the Committee to Combat Trafficking and Exploitation of Persons, it was verified that a complainant confessed that she was a “sex worker” and that she had been transferred towards Rio Turbio by the same person, who forced several women into prostitution.
In addition, he added that there would be a high turnover of women, who had to pay a sum of money -sometimes with sex- to the defendant, for his protection, accommodation and transportation.
They rescued 13 victims of trafficking in a Microcentro brothel
A woman was arrested and 13 victims of human trafficking were rescued on April 19 by the City Police, in the heart of Buenos Aires Microcentro, within the framework of an investigation that lasted for a year.
The detainee was the one who ran a brothel located in three apartments of a building on Suipacha street at 600. The victims had to leave 60% of what their clients paid them as rent, security and hygiene items.
During the investigation, prior to the raid, the investigators were able to determine that in three apartments on different floors of that building located in Suipacha, between Tucumán and Viamonte, a woman ran a brothel, supposedly in agreement with the owner of the units.
The officers arrested the person in charge of the place, a 38-year-old Paraguayan woman, and seized documentation. Among what they took was a notebook with notes on the work of each woman, 500,000 pesos, brochures, intimate gels, prophylactics and nine cell phones.
