Severe weather brings storm risks from the Rockies

A multi-day severe weather lineup carries the risk of strong thunderstorms that can include large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes from the Rockies along the southern plains to the southeast.

Severe weather is likely to hit central Texas on Monday.

Parts of Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida also have a good chance of being hit by severe storms.

Some areas could experience flash flooding throughout the week.

Communities along the Alabama-Georgia border may see up to 8 inches of rain through Saturday, while 3 to 5 inches are forecast in most of those states and parts of Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina and northern Florida.

The Great Lakes and the Northeast will receive some much-needed rain in the coming days to combat the drought and help dissipate smoke from Canada’s wildfires.

Meanwhile, triple-digit, record-breaking heat will bake Central and South Texas.

On Friday, temperatures are forecast for a maximum of 104 degrees in San Antonio, 103 in Dallas and 100 in Houston.

High heat indices make it very difficult and dangerous to be outdoors.
