Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose just 8 points. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures also rose slightly.

On Friday, the Nasdaq Composite closed its biggest first-half gain since 1983, up 31.7%. It was the best first half since 2019 for the S&P 500, up 15.9%. The Dow also rose a modest 3.8%.

Those gains come as enthusiasm around AI-boosted technology stocks. In addition, data showing that the US economy is resilient despite higher interest rates boosted investor sentiment.

Tesla shares were little changed in overnight trading after the electric vehicle maker released shipment and production numbers that beat analysts’ expectations. United stocks fell slightly. Bad weather contributed to a high number of flight disruptions for the airline over the holiday weekend.

Stocks begin a holiday-shortened trading week on Monday, with the market closing at 1 p.m. for the July 4 holiday. On the economic data side, investors will be digging into the latest ISM manufacturing PMI and S&P Global manufacturing PMI data for June ahead of Friday’s keynote jobs report.
