Stocks make the biggest moves in the premarket: TSLA, AAPL, AZN

Tesla – Tesla shares rose nearly 7% after the electric vehicle company posted Q2 shipment and production numbers that beat Wall Street expectations. Deliveries were up 83% year over year.

Electric Vehicle Shares — Electric vehicle shares generally rose after Tesla posted stronger-than-expected second-quarter production and shipment numbers. Rivian added 3.2% while Fisker And Bright each gained more than 2%.

Xpeng US-listed shares of the Chinese electric vehicle company rose about 7% after beating its delivery forecast and up 27% quarter-over-quarter after more than a year of declines. Other China-Based EV Stocks Nio, li car each rose more than 4% on solid delivery numbers.

Apple — The iPhone maker’s stock fell 0.4% following a report that Apple plans to scale back production of Vision Pro headsets. Apple shares closed above a $3 trillion market cap on Friday.

AstraZeneca — Shares of the drugmaker fell 5.7% in premarket trading after AstraZeneca announced preliminary results for a phase three trial of a lung cancer treatment. While the drug compared well with a competitor on one endpoint, the data for overall survival was “not mature” and indicated that the results were not statistically significant, AstraZeneca said in a press release. According to the company, the process is ongoing.

United Airlines – Shares of the airline were trading slightly higher before the bell, even after the airline bore the brunt of the flight delays that occurred across the country over the holiday weekend.

Chinese Internet Stocks — Shares of China-based technology stocks rose before the bell, driving the KraneShares CSO China Internet ETF. alibaba, pinduo And JD. com shares gained 1.9%, 3.2% and 3.1% respectively. The gains came amid news that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen plans to meet senior Chinese officials in Beijing later this week.

Energy Stocks — Energy stocks rose in premarket trading, boosted by a rise in oil prices after top exporters cut supplies for August. Halliburton And ConocoPhillips added about 1% each. Chevron, Devon energy And Western petroleum also went up.
