Sustainable farm promoting food security

With a capacity of more than 3 million chickens per year, an investment of USD$14 million and with technology that allows sustainable production for the benefit of the country’s food security. CMI Alimentos, group of Multi Investment Corporation (CMI); and the Jurimar company, an expert company in the development of farms, open the poultry farm of this type and of the first wine in Taxisco, Santa Rosa.

The first phase of the farm has more than 27,400 productive square meters and with a vision that seeks the opportunity to grow and promote national entrepreneurship. It also has strategic allies such as Equipagro, representative in Guatemala of leading equipment brands such as Plasson and Munters.

“The inauguration of this farm is one more step in the progress towards the transformation, evolution and growth of our operations. These investments allow us to continue providing solutions to our clients and consumers, with brands that are part of the local tradition and flavor, such as Pollo Rey, while we generate local development and strengthen food security in our country,” said Carlos Chacón, director of Meat Solutions. The location was chosen strategically, in a region that offers the right climatic conditions that optimize chicken production. During the construction of the farm, more than 300 direct jobs have been generated, thus contributing to the development of the town. This farm, thanks to its state-of-the-art technology, was designed to save diesel, gas (more than 50%), electricity (25%) and up to 20% less water consumption.

“CMI has been recognized internationally for its leadership and excellence in the poultry industry, as well as for promoting sustainability in its operations, and this farm is no exception. These facilities have equipment and new technologies that guarantee adequate feeding for the bird, as well as efficient ventilation for its correct growth. In addition, we have ensured maximum biosecurity for the care of the health and productivity of the animals”, commented Sergio Sevilla, director of Livestock Operations CMI.

CMI was awarded for standing out for its best practices and performance of poultry lots, which guarantees the quality and safety of its products. They have also been recognized for implementing innovative solutions in bird nutrition, which have improved digestive processes and avoided CO2 emissions.

“This farm not only contributes to the country’s food security, but it is sustainable and seeks to care for the environment. As a company, we feel very proud of this project, which allows us to generate economic and social development for Guatemala,” said Juan Carlos Pazos, from Jurimar.

The second phase of the farm is already under construction and with it, a total of 52 thousand productive square meters and a production of 7 million chickens per year will be reached.

In 2022, CMI announced a US$1.8 billion investment plan in the countries where it operates. With these efforts, CMI consolidates its leadership in the poultry industry in the country and in the region, operating as a responsible, upright and transparent citizen, which with Excellence generates social and development.
