Drive-by shooting in Memphis derails interview

Sheriff’s deputies in Memphis, Tennessee found a body in a lake while searching for a missing 3-year-old child.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet Friday that 3-year-old Israel Powell went missing Thursday night and was last seen in the 5100 block of Laurel Springs Dr. in Memphis. Powell was last seen around 1 a.m. Friday morning with his 4-year-old sister, the sheriff’s office told FOX Memphis.
When officers arrived early Friday morning, the girl was only found.
The mother realized around 5 a.m. on Friday that her children were missing, unaware that her daughter was in hospital.

During the search, officers found a body at Jamieson Lake around 1 p.m. Friday, just a nine-minute walk from where the child was last seen.

Officials have not officially identified the body as that of Israel Powell.
