The death of the Palestinian leader of the militant group in Israeli custody, Khader Adnan, has once again reignited tensions between the two countries.
Only a few hours passed since the news spread and rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, which escalated even further.
Immediately after the attacks the whole country was filled with black smoke, also the whole country was occupied by explosion alarms. Also, the Palestinians continued the protests in Gaza, to show the revolt of this event, considering it a crime.
“86 days was the period during which Khader Adnan fought on an empty stomach. Despite the hunger, thirst, pain and illness that have affected his body, he insisted on continuing to fight this battle for dignity. This crime, which the Zionist occupation carried out with premeditation, cannot go unnoticed and the Islamic Jihad movement will spare no opportunity to respond to this crime,” said Ahmed Al-Mudallal – prominent leader of Islamic Jihad.
In relation to this situation, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has also reacted, who has accused the Israeli side, considering it “intentional murder”.
“We consider this a deliberate assassination by rejecting his request for his release, neglecting him medically and keeping him in a cell, regardless of the seriousness of his health condition,” said Mohammad Shtayyeh – the Prime Minister of Palestine.
Khader Adnan, leader of the Islamic Jihad militant group, died in an Israeli detention facility after a nearly three-month hunger strike.
He had been organizing extended hunger strikes for more than a decade, a new form of protest against mass detentions of Palestinians by Israeli authorities, without charge or trial. The 45-year-old became the first long-term hunger striker to die in Israeli custody.
