Now what happens when title 42 ends?
Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies warns of the consequences of Title 42 expiring for “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety temporarily ended cooperation with the Austin Police Department on Saturday due to the expiration of Title 42.
In a statement obtained by FOX 7 Austin, Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon explained that because Texas DPS are heavily deployed in border towns, their operations will be temporarily suspended in Austin. Texas DPS worked with Austin authorities to investigate violent crime and drug crimes.
“The department would like to take this moment to thank DPS for the work they have done to keep our community safe,” the Austin Police Department said in a statement.
“In recent weeks, they have helped reduce calls related to violent crime, remove stolen weapons and vehicles from the streets, and recover large quantities of illegal narcotics, as well as increase road safety in our city.”, added the statement.

An Austin councilman acknowledged that the decision “could affect public safety” in the city.
“While the situation is still evolving, we recognize that it may impact public safety in certain areas,” said Austin City Councilman MacKenzie Kelly.
“Nevertheless, we support their (DPS) vital work at the border and welcome them as soon as possible. We remain committed to ensuring the safety of our city and appreciate the cooperation of our law enforcement partners,” the statement said.
Title 42 was a Trump-era measure that allowed officials to prevent migrants from entering the United States due to public health concerns. The intention was to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The policy, which the Biden administration ended Thursday, meant that at least two million migrants have been turned away from the US-Mexico border over the past three years.

El Paso deputy city manager Mario D’Agostino told Fox News Digital that without new laws, the end of Title 42 will wreak havoc on community members and migrants alike.
“There have to be policy changes at the federal level, they have to come together and they have to make the policy changes to control the flow,” D’Agostino explained.
“While I understand that people want to come to America, they want that shot. They want that piece of the American dream. I totally understand that. But there has to be an orderly process ahead of it,” the city leader added.
