Texas authorities believe a man who shot and killed two people acted in self-defense after two men allegedly tried to rob him while he was withdrawing money from an ATM.
At a news conference, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said that at about 1 p.m. on Friday, July 7, a man in his 20s went to a Chase Bank about 15 minutes from downtown San Antonio, Texas.

Police said the unidentified man drove to a drive-by ATM to withdraw money and saw two people drive up and try to rob him.

He shot a pistol at both would-be robbers, killing them both.
“It was a robbery that didn’t go well for the robbers,” McManus told the news conference.

Police say everyone involved is in their 20s.

According to McManus, the shooting is still under investigation without immediate charges being filed.
“They’re going to continue interviewing him,” McManus said. “At this time, we consider him to be the victim of a robbery acted in self-defense.”
