Authorities are investigating the mysterious death of a Texas sergeant who was found dead in his vehicle.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference that deputies were notified of a body in a vehicle by a concerned citizen. Police say when authorities arrived on the scene, they found a Waller County Precinct 3 Deputy Constable’s Office sergeant dead in the vehicle.
Police have not released the sergeant’s full name at this time, and during a press conference, Harris County Sheriff’s Assistant Chief Thomas Diaz did not specify whether the sergeant was found in a squad car or in his personal vehicle.

Diaz went on to say the agency is “heartbroken” over the loss.

Authorities shared that a concerned citizen called the police to let them know about the officer.
“We would like to emphasize that it was a civilian who helped us discover this deputy,” Diaz continued. “And we’re just really thankful that we have people in the community who are still willing to make those calls and go the extra mile.”
